Back to School

And so it begins again! Fall semester in Rexburg has easily become my favorite semester. I absolutely love being able to spend the holiday season with my roommates. It's so much fun decorating the apartment and filling it with autumn smells. Fall is also the best time to listen to my favorite music. I've had quite a few people give me some weird looks every time I've mentioned this to them so let me explain: I love gloomy, sad music. It's not upbeat. It's the type of music that lulls you to sleep. And it's the PERFECT music to listen to when it's raining or snowing! There's no better feeling to me than walking on campus while it's sprinkling and listening to some Ben Howard or Jose Gonzalez. I know it sounds silly and cheesy, but it makes me feel like I'm in a movie.
I thought when I moved from Arizona to Idaho that the cold weather was going to kill me and they'd have to ship my body back in a frozen casket, but I actually ended up loving the weather. I really hope that I end up living somewhere where it snows.

don't date a girl who travels
she's the one with the messy hair colored by the sun
her soul craves for new experiences and adventures
she goes with the flow and follows her heart
her days are ruled by the sun and the moon
when the waves are calling, life stops
she's tasted life and it marked her with flaws
like a map to her soul
every place she's been: a reminder she must let go
and she goes

so never date a girl who travels
and if you fall in love with one
let her go

Seth Cohen Was My First Love

"Seth Cohen Was My First Love" shirt: Nylon Shop

Seth Cohen easily makes my Top 3 television character crushes. I always fall for the guy that is the unlikely (but clearly the best) choice for the girl. Cohen was the adorable, nerdy, emo kid in high school. He listened to Death Cab. He had the most lovable side-kick in all of human history: Captain Oats. He was sarcastic, witty, and quirky. In short, he was perfect!

There was a guy I knew in high school that was the epitome of Seth Cohen and I had the biggest crush on him. We're Facebook friends to this day and I have to restrain myself from liking all of his posts and professing my undying love for him on his timeline.

While all the other girls drooled over Ryan, I had it big time for Seth Cohen. So naturally, when I saw this t-shirt on Nylon Shop I HAD TO HAVE IT! Happy Early Birthday To Me. :)

P.S. Did you know that Seth Cohen and Blair Waldorf are married in real life? This makes me happy.
P.S.S. Here's a Seth Cohen mixtape for the adorakable emo in you. ;)

Take your time coming home.

Hear the wheels as they roll.
Let your lungs fill up with smoke.
Forgive everyone.

She is here and now she is gone
We had plans, we can't help but make love.

It's a beautiful thing when you love somebody,
and I love somebody.
Yeah I love somebody.

Take your time coming home.
Hear the wheels as they roll.
Let your lungs fill up with smoke.
Forgive everyone.
I don't think I'd been misled,
it was a rock 'n' roll band,
I'm still standing,
Take your time coming home.

See, of everyone who called,
Very few said "We believe in you."
The overwhelming choice said
I'm just a boy inside a voice
and if that's true, is it true, if it's true,
then what the f*** have I been doing the last six years?
How did I end up here?
How did I find love and conquer all of my fears?
See, I made it out.
Out from under the sun.
And the truth is that I feel better because I've forgiven everyone.

Now I'm not scared
of a sound
or the states
or the stages.
I'm not scared
I've got friends,
took my call,
came courageous.

Now I feel like I am home.

One more thing, I keep having this dream
where I'm standing on a mountain
Looking out, on the street
I can hear kids in low-income housing singing
"We're through with causing a scene"
I don't know what it means
But I too, am through with causing a scene.

She is here and now I think she's ready to go.
For every love that's lost I heard a new one comes.

So come on with me, sing along with me,
Let the wind catch your feet.
If you love somebody,
you'd better let them know.

Take your time coming home.

FUN.

friday favorites // graphic tees

This summer I've become obsessed with taking a fun, graphic tee and dressing it up with a classic pencil skirt or a blazer. Graphic tees have become so versatile in my wardrobe and I LOVE IT! I can wear it down during the day or dress it up at night. Here are a few of my favorite looks and a couple graphic tees I think everyone should own.

Dress It Up
Everything about this look is perfect! I love the sparkly pencil skirt paired with the fuchsia pumps.
"Holy Chic."

I can't get enough of floral skirts and I think they're the perfect compliment to a simple graphic tee like this one.
"Killin' It"

I saw this street look during NYFW in the Spring. Another perfect example of pairing a feminine skirt with a graphic tee. "Nouveau Grunge"

Must Haves

I found this shirt the other day on NYLON mag's website and decided that this is going to be my birthday present to myself this year. I mean, what twenty-something girl wasn't in love with Seth Cohen?
"Seth Cohen Was My First Love" $31

These Feather Hearts! creations are currently SOLD OUT, but I'm keeping my fingers crossed that they'll make a return shortly. "Bad News Babes"

Rachel Antonoff could design tissue paper and I would buy it.  Her collection of graphic tees and sweatshirts are adorable and if they didn't come with a designer price tag, I would probably own all of them.
"Forever Crush" $55

arizona summers

I'm currently on my summer break from BYU-Idaho which means I'm back in the Arizona heat! But one of the good things about being home is the massive amounts of thrift shopping I get to do. There's just something about Arizona thrift stores that is so much better than Idaho thrift stores. Don't get me wrong, I've found many treasures in Idaho but I can always count on finding something special thrifting in AZ. My ultimate favorite vintage clothing store would have to be GrowOp Boutique in Phoenix. Pretty much any store down 6th street is a dream. I also discovered Trina's Thrift which is a lot closer to my home in Mesa and even though it's kind of chaotic on the inside, I've purchased so many cool clothes and records from that store.

Being back in Arizona is kind of weird because while everyone else is starting school again, my summer has just begun! So you can bet that I'll be blasting my summer jams until I go back to Idaho in September. Here's a playlist of some of my favorite summer songs:
